The Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research and Training, Mambayya House, was founded in November 2000 as a research and training unit of the Bayero University, Kano-Nigeria, in the premises vacated by the defunct Centre for Democratic Studies (CDS), which was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1989. When the CDS was scrapped in 1996, the Federal Government donated the building to Bayero University, Kano. The then Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji (Dr) Gidado Idris GCON, mni, formally handed over Mambayya House to the former Vice Chancellor, Bayero University, Kano, Professor Musa Abdullahi on March 3, 1999.
